BY CAR:-

DIRECTIONS FROM THE SOUTH.

When traveling north on the M6 motorway take the exit at junction 36 and head towards Kendal on the A590. The A590 changes into the A591, still signposted Kendal.

As you are approaching Kendal you will see a signpost marked Kendal on your left, do not take this road, carry straight on, on the road signposted Windermere. It is the bypass road avoiding Kendal Town centre.
As you come to the end of the bypass you approach a large roundabout. Follow the signs for Windermere on the A591.

When you arrive at Windermere stay on the A591 signposted Ambleside. Continue on the A591 through Ambleside following the signs for Grasmere and Keswick.

As you approach Grasmere you will see the Lake and the Waterside Hotel on your left. About 200 metres later you will come to a mini roundabout. Do NOT turn left into Grasmere village, but follow the A591, signposted Keswick, for about 300 metres and you will see our sign on the right. Turn right up this driveway and left over the cattle grid. You will find Heron Beck Bed and Breakfast on your right.

DIRECTIONS FROM THE NORTH.

When traveling south on the M6 motorway take the exit at junction 40 and head towards Keswick on the A66. Stay on the A66 until you approach the village of Threlkeld. Turn left onto the B5322 signposted Thirlmere and the Vale of St. John.

Remain on this road for about 2.5 miles until you join the A591. Turn left following the signs for Ambleside and Grasmere. Continue alongside Thirlmere Lake and up and over Dunmail raise coming down towards Grasmere Village.

As you approach the Village you come to the Swan Hotel. Do NOT turn right into Grasmere village. Continue on the A591 following the signs for Ambleside for about 400metres and you will see our sign on your left. Turn left up this driveway and left over the cattle grid. You will find Heron Beck Bed and Breakfast on your right.

BY RAIL or BUS:-

Our nearest Northwest Mainline railway station is at Oxenholme, which is connected to Windermere station by a regular local service, which takes about twenty minutes.

The main bus station is based at the railway station. You can take the 555 or 556 bus and in summer the 599 open top bus is available as well. The journey to Grasmere takes about 30 minutes by bus. If you prefer taxis are available outside the station. The taxi will take about 20 minutes to Grasmere.
